Nigerian teenager Michael Oluwayemi has extended his contract with Swedish side Östersund FK through to 2027. The 19 year old midfielder, who joined the club from TikiTaka International last year, expressed joy over the extension, stating that it represents both a personal achievement and a vote of confidence from the club.

Oluwayemi, who has made seven appearances in the Superettan this season starting in two matches emphasised his ambition to continue improving. Speaking to local outlet Östersunds-Posten, he said, "It feels good, Im happy about it. The team have given me the chance to show what I can do and I have done that. I want to do even more to hopefully be sold to another club in the long term and in this way generate money for ÖFK."

Michael Oluwayemis contract extension is more than just a routine renewal its a window into how football careers are built, brick by brick. For a 19-year-old still learning the demands of professional European football, securing a long term deal in Swedens second division is a strong foundation on which to build.

Whats even more striking is Oluwayemis outlook. In an era where many young get swept up in dreams of instant superstardom, he is already thinking like a professional. His goal isnt just personal progress its also to contribute to Östersunds success, even if that means generating income through a future transfer. That kind of maturity is rare and invaluable.

This extension is a win for all involved. For Östersund, its a calculated investment in a player they believe can grow into a key figure. For Oluwayemi, its both a challenge and a platform. He now has stability, the trust of his coaches, and the minutes needed to sharpen his craft.

If he continues to work hard and deliver on his promise, a move to a bigger league may well be on the horizon. But for now, the focus is right where it should be development, consistency, and team contribution.
